Overview

Our 12-day Kailash Mansarovar Yatra with Ashtapad Visit is a special and spiritual journey that starts in Kathmandu, Nepal. During this trip, pilgrims visit beautiful and holy places like Pashupatinath Temple, Lake Mansarovar, and the amazing Mount Kailash. Along with the mighty Mount Kailash, pilgrims will visit the Astapad, one of the most revered and holiest pilgrimage sites for Jains. The first Tirthankara of the Jains attained salvation (Nirvana) here. You will do the Mount Kailash kora and see Gauri Kund and Dolma-La Pass, which is very high and full of adventure. This yatra is not only about travel but also about faith, peace, and courage. It gives everyone a chance to enjoy nature, learn about different cultures, and feel closer to God.

Itinerary

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will meet our tour representative who will warmly welcome you and escort you to the pre-booked hotel. Check into the hotel and relax. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.

Wake up early and embark on a sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. Visit the most famous and largest Hindu temple in Nepal, Pashupatinath Temple, and two other notable temples of Mata Guheswori and Budhanilkantha Temple. Later, our tour representative will drop you off at the airport to board your flight to Nepalgunj. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel, where you will join other pilgrims for the Yatra. There will be a briefing of the Yatra by our tour guide and expert. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Nepalgunj.

Today, you will fly from Nepalgunj to Simikot. However, this is a complicated part as the operation of the aircraft completely depends on the weather conditions. So, we will take an early flight to reach Simikot. After 45 minutes, you will reach Simikot, where you will meet our representative, who will take you to the guesthouse. Get yourself acclimatized. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Check out early after having your breakfast or taking packed snacks. Our representative will drive you to Simikot airport to board your helicopter to Hilsa. After reaching, walk through the swinging bridge to cross the river and reach the other side, where the immigration formalities will be completed. After this, our representative will drive you to Taklakot, where you will check into the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel in Taklakot.

You will spend the day free at leisure to get acclimatized for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Do some physical exercises with the other members of the group or embark on a short trek for the practice of Kailash Yatra. It helps you to acclimatize fast. Or, you can simply take a rest at the hotel. If you want, you can explore the market and shop for your trip essentials, like trekking sticks, shoes, empty water gallons, etc. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Taklakot.

It is one of the most important days of your Kailash Mansarovar Yatra with Ashtapad visit as you will embark on a yatra to Lake Mansarovar from Taklakot. After having your breakfast, proceed to Lake Mansarovar. After a 2-hour drive, you will reach the holy Lake Mansarovar, located at the foothills of the Kailash Parvat. Before that, you will see another lake called Rakshah Tal (Lake) adjacent to Lake Mansarovar. After this, continue your journey to Lake Mansarovar. Check into the guesthouse and have your lunch. After lunch, you will begin the Parikrama of Lake Mansarovar by vehicle, covering approximately 105 km. Overnight stay at the guesthouse.

After breakfast, we drive 35 km from Chiu Gompa to Darchen, the base camp of Mount Kailash. From here, the Kailash Parikrama begins. Pilgrims visit Yama Dwar before starting the 12 km trek to Dirapuk. Pilgrims even get the option of hiring a horse/pony or even porters. The route passes through scenic rivers and grassland, offering the first majestic view of the North Face of Mount Kailash. After reaching Dirapuk, check into the guesthouse for dinner and overnight stay. The night will be cold and oxygen levels low, so rest well for the next day’s long trek.

Early morning, witness the beautiful Golden Kailash at sunrise before starting the toughest 22 km trek. The trail climbs to Dolma-La Pass (5630 m), the highest point of the Yatra. On the way, see Shivasthal and Gauri Kund, sacred spots for pilgrims. After crossing Dolma-La, descend carefully on a rocky path, enjoy a packed lunch, and continue to Zuthulpukh Gompa (4790 m). Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge or camp.

After breakfast, enjoy your time exploring the caves and temple built around. Have your breakfast at the hotel/camp/guesthouse and explore the caves and visit the temple build around. The cave also contains meditation platforms. It is worth exploring these caves before the final trek to Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. After this, you will reach the final destination of your trek near Chongdo, where the vehicles will be waiting for you. A 6 km drive will bring you to Darchen for an overnight stay.

Get up early and start trekking to Ashtapad via Serlung Gompa. The trek may take 03 hours. You will stay for a few hours in Ashtapad, then return to your hotel in Darchen. Check out and drive to Taklakot for an overnight stay in a hotel/guesthouse.

After breakfast, you will drive approx. 45 km towards the China-Nepal border. From there, you will cross the border on foot after completing the immigration formalities and reach Hilsa, Nepal. From Hilsa, board your flight to Simikot. Upon arrival, you will take a connecting flight to Nepalgunj. And, at Nepalgunj, you will board a flight again to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, our tour representative will pick you up and transfer you to the pre-booked hotel in Kathmandu for an overnight stay.

Have your breakfast and check out of the hotel. Our tour representative will drop you off at the Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport to board your flight back home or onward destination.
